 Ukraine to survive winter without Russian gas purchases for the first time in its history, - Yatseniuk

Ukraine plans to end current heating season without extra purchases of Russian gas.

This was announced by Prime Minister Arsenii Yatsenuik at the governmental meeting with diplomatic corps representatives in Kyiv on Friday, Censor.NET informs citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"I would like to inform that this is the first time in Ukraine's history that we will survive the winter without Russian gas," the government head said, stressing that this became possible due to the reform in NJSC Naftohaz Ukrainy.

"This is real reform and a real step towards Ukraine's diversification of its natural gas supplies," Yatseniuk said.

He thanked the EU, EBRD, World Bank and other international partners for their help, which allowed reaching "real diversification and energy self-sufficiency."
