 All passports to be replaced by ID cards within four years, - Minister Avakov

Current internal passports held by Ukrainian citizens are likely to be replaced with ID cards during next four years.

This was announced by Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Censor.NET reports citing UNN.

"If our program is implemented, passports may be replaced within 4 years," he said. At the same time, he stressed the replacement of passports was highly dependent on the adoption of amendments to legislation in terms of ID card issue to adults.

As reported, as of Feb. 9, some 20,000 Ukrainian citizen ID cards had been issued in Ukraine.
