 Poroshenko opposes covert phone eavesdropping by NABU detectives

President Petro Poroshenko did not support granting the National Anti-Corruption Bureau the possibility to carry out covert investigative search activities.

The issue has been raised at a meeting with NABU detectives, Censor.NET reports citing presidential press service.

In particular, interception of communications was mentioned. According to the president, accessing this kind of information restricts human rights.

"Unfortunately, since Soviet times law enforcers have had a tradition of abusing this right," Poroshenko stressed and spoke in favor of NABU's effective cooperation with the SBU.
