 Prosecution authorities open criminal case into use of arms by policemen during night chase in Kyiv

The prosecutor's office in Kyiv has filed criminal proceedings to check the legitimacy of the Kyiv patrol police officers’ actions, who used firearms chasing BMW on the night of Feb. 7. A 17-year-old boy was killed as a result.

Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the prosecutor's office in Kyiv.

The criminal proceedings under Part 3 of the Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine have been initiated over the incident.

As part of the criminal action, the investigators have inspected the scene, including places where arms were employed, seized records of surveillance cameras, obtained the testimony of the patrol police officers, who were in pursuit of the above mentioned car, questioned the witnesses of this incident, etc.

"The actions of the police officers, who chased the offenders, will be given an unbiased legal evaluation," the prosecutor's office in Kyiv stressed.

The National Police Main Directorate in Kyiv simultaneously investigates the criminal case under Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely the infliction of bodily harm to the law enforcement officer during the mentioned incident.
