Ukraine facing serious political crisis, - Hroisman on Abromavicius' resignation

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau should publicly, clearly, and quickly react to the charges voiced by Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius against Poroshenko Bloc faction first deputy chairman Ihor Kononenko.

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Hroisman said today at a briefing, Censor.NET reports.

"If at least some charges against Kononenko are proved, this should be answered," Hroisman said.

He stressed it was a challenge for the NABU: "This investigation should be public and open."

As for the resignation of Abromavicius, Hroisman said: "It is clear that we are entering a serious political crisis. I believe that this crisis must be addressed by the representatives of political parties together with the president to stabilize the situation and, finally, give people absolutely clear perspective of how we'll live tomorrow and the day after tomorrow."

To this end, according to Hroisman, it is necessary to update the coalition agreement as a clear action plan.

"I want to see the salaries people will get, the tariffs, and all the Ukrainians want to see that. And not only that! They want to see the rate of the national currency, the way the Central Election Commission will be formed, prospects of further development of the judicial and law enforcement systems. These tasks require updating the government. Because for some reason, everyone is focused on names. I do not care about names, I care about those who will be able to solve the tasks," he added.

Hroisman also said that he, as the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, will hold political consultations with all political forces to find a way out of the current situation in the country.

"We need to put an end to these disputes," he concluded.
