Ukraine’s banking system to be world’s ‘soundest one’ in three years, Central Bank Head Hontarieva says

The banking system of Ukraine will become the world’s soundest in three years.

National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Head Valeria Hontarieva said, Censor.NET reports citing 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"In our program, we have agreed that bank's capital may be zero at the end of 2015. So when someone says that Ukrainian banks have been the world's worst ones, it's the negative capital that matters for judgment providing that the bank's capital is zero. It means that this is our indicator: we want it to be this way, it is our demand for it to be zero," she said.

"In half a year, in the middle of 2016, it should be at the level…, the capital adequacy must reach five points, seven - in the next year, while it should become 10 only in late 2018. That's when our banking system is the soundest one in the world - we need three years and we are well on the way to it, making confident steps towards it," Hontarieva said.
