Militants’ attacks in Shyrokyne minimized due to OSCE surveillance cameras, - ATO spokesman Selezniov

The number of attacks by the Russian occupation troops in the vicinity of Shyrokyne has significantly decreased after OSCE observers installed towers with surveillance cameras.

General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces press center Head Vladyslav Selezniov said in a comment to Ukrinform, Censor.NET reports.

"The Ukrainian side was interested in the installation of surveillance cameras as their main purpose was recording the violations of the cease-fire committed by militants of the illegal armed groups. The number of attacks in the vicinity of Shyrokyne has significantly decreased after installation of the cameras," Selezniov said commenting on the statement that the surveillance cameras installed by the OSCE in Shyrokyne show only Ukrainian servicemen.

The General Staff spokesperson also noted that the ATO forces' positions had long been known to the enemy by means of the air surveillance drones, therefore the OSCE Mission cameras were not able to disclose them. "The militants have recorded the positions of the Ukrainian military long ago using UAVs, so only ignorant person incompetent in art of war may say that the cameras are disclosing Ukrainian position," he said.

At the same time, Selezniov said that the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) representatives were the ones who should be asked why surveillance cameras had not been installed in the territory uncontrolled by the Ukrainian government.
