Ukraine increased gas imports from European Union twice in 2015 – Naftogaz

The gas imports from the European market to Ukraine more than doubled from 5 to 10.3 billion cubic meters in 2015. The number of international vendors of natural gas exceeded 10 companies.

Censor.NET reports citing the press service Naftogaz National Joint-Stock Company.

In 2015, the imports of gas from Russia decreased by 2.4 times compared to 2014 from 14.5 to 6.1 bcm. As a result of these changes, part of Russian supplies in domestic gas consumption in Ukraine has decreased from 34% in 2014 to 18% in 2015.

The imports of gas by private traders and consumers without intermediaries increased significantly as well, which led to a decline of Naftogaz imports to private importers. In 2015, private traders imported 1.1 billion cubic meters of gas, 7.5 times more than in 2014.
