Russian expats in Canada urge Foreign Minister Lavrov to “mind his language”

Russian expatriate community in Canada has called on Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to be restrained in his criticism of the Canadian government and national minorities of the country.

Russian expats in Canadia posted their address on the page of Canadians for Democracy in Russia community on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"Mr. Lavrov, we appeal to you on behalf of the "rampant" Russian expat community in Canada using the language of your superiors for your better comprehension: mind your tongue," these are the words the appeal to the Russian Foreign Minister begins with.

The expatriate community has reminded that Canada is a democratic country where the elected MPs express not only the opinions of the "rabid" Ukrainians but also the "rampant" Russians, Balts, French and the Anglo-Saxons.

Earlier, Russia's Foreign Minister insulted Canadians and Ukrainians on Tuesday, Jan 26. Sergey Lavrov said that the Canadian government played the game of "rampant" Ukrainian Diaspora but not its own in its relations with Russia.

The Canadian government and the Ukrainian community in Canada have already responded:

Canadian Foreign Minister Stephane Dion called Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's insulting statement regarding the Ukrainian Diaspora unacceptable.
