This was announced by deputy head of the Russian opposition party PARNAS Vladimir Kara-Murza in his interview with UNIAN, Censor.NET reports.
He said that Marieluise Beck, member of the legal matters committee of the Assembly, wished to initiate the discussion within the Council of Europe.
"On Jan. 26 there will be hearings in the legal committee of the PACE dedicated to the Donbas situation. I will speak there as an external expert. The point of the hearings is to find out who is responsible for what's happening in the Donbas, Ukraine or Russia," he said.
"I will say that the level of the Kremlin's impact and intrusion is so high into what has been going on in parts of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions for almost two years now, that it is the Russian authorities who are responsible for what happens there. I mean the military, political, and economic influence," the politician said. He dubbed the so-called republics' independence a farce.
Kara-Murza's source is the report titled "Putin. War." by late Russian politician Boris Nemtsov. The report, Kara-Murza says, includes data of acting Russian soldiers participation in the Donbas events. The document also states that the Kremlin influences the situation politically through Vladislav Surkov, the curator of the so-called 'people's republics.'
"All of the aggression launched by the Kremlin regime in Ukraine is caused by the desire to make the democratic experiment in Ukraine fail. From the Kremlin's point of view, a European democratic Ukraine would be a bad example for the Russian society. Putin understands this well, and that is the reason why the aggression had been initiated," Kara-Murza said.
