 Swine flu claimed lives of 11 Kyiv residents last week, - Sanitary and Epidemiological Agency

11 people died from influenza H1N1 virus (so-called swine or pig flu) in Kyiv in the past week.

Head of Kyiv's Sanitary and Epidemiological Agency Oleh Ruban said, Censor.NET reports citing 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"It was Kyiv where the influenza and acute respiratory disease morbidity rate started exceeding the threshold first. We have already been observing slight morbidity rate decline since last week but it's still too early to talk about stabilization. We still record high morbidity rate among adults aged 17 and older, while it is steadily reducing among the children," he said.

"We have reduced morbidity rate among school children by almost 1.5 times due to the termination of the educational process from Jan. 16. The rates have been decreasing since last Tuesday," he said.
