With the new rates, Crimeans will have to pay for both the water they use and the maintenance of the water supply systems.
"Whether you are using water or not, the enterprise bears the costs for electricity, technical equipment, and staff for maintaining required pressure," said Yurii Novosad, official of the so-called 'Crimean administration.'
According to him, expert members of prices and rates committee will calculate the new tariffs, and if they are approved, all residents of Crimea's South Coast will have to pay for water at the double rate starting from 2017.
