 Occupation authorities of Crimea launched criminal investigation into creation of Crimean Tatar battalion in Ukraine

The Russian FSB has filed a criminal case regarding the creation of the Crimean Tatar battalion in Ukraine.

Censor.NET reports citing Krym.Realii.

"The prosecutor's office of the republic has submitted materials to the investigating authorities of FSB in Crimea into creation of the illegal armed formation in the territory of the Kherson region announced by Isliamov. The decision to initiate criminal proceedings under Part 1 of the Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was made today," puppet "prosecutor" of Crimea Poklonskaya said.

This article imposes a sanction of imprisonment up to 15 years.

The day before, Chairman of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars, Head of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov said that there was still no official decision on the establishment of the battalion while such decision was solely the prerogative of the Ukrainian government.

Earlier, the leader of the civil blockade of Crimea Lenur Isliamov announced the creation of the Crimean Tatar battalion, which will be named after Noman Çelebicihan.
