 Kyiv and Washington united in Nord Stream II criticism, - Poroshenko

Ukraine and the U.S. have common ground in criticizing the Nord Stream II project.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Interfax-Ukraine, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said after talks with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden.

"We have clearly stressed on Nord Stream II being purely political project, aimed both against Ukraine and a significant number of EU countries, and we must act effectively to make it not become a reality," the president told reporters in Davos on Thursday.

He added that one of the topics raised during the four-hour talks was reforms in Ukraine.

"We also discussed the IMF cooperation program in the run-up to my meeting with Christine Lagarde, and I thanked the vice president for the firm position of the U.S. regarding the reforms and financial support for Ukraine," Poroshenko said.

Also, according to the head of state, the sides discussed the reform of Ukraine's security and defense sector, and in this context the Ukrainian president expressed gratitude to the American side for its recent $23 million aid to Ukraine.
