According to the statement, the perpetrators are carrying out bulk e-mailing of fake messages on behalf of the State Enterprise NEC Ukrenerho to the e-mail addresses of the energy utilities, the e-mails' subject being change of the date of the public discussions on the Plan of development of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine.
"There is an attached file in the messages with an alleged draft of the plan, which is probably infected with a Black Energy virus. We are formally notifying that NEC Ukrenerho SE does not carry out such mail-outs," the statement by Ukrenerho reads.
Ukrenerho officials have also reported about another hacker attack to the CERT-UA team responding the IT emergency events, which operates as part of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection (State Special Communication Service).
It should be reminded that the major part of the Ukrainian Prykarpattia region was blacked-out Dec. 23, 2015 as a result of the unauthorized intervention in the work of the automatic power equipment control system through the BlackEnergy scumware.
