 Court to continue trial of Maj. Gen. Nazarov charged with IL-76 tragedy

The trial of Maj. Gen. Viktor Nazarov is to continue today in Pavlohrad, the Dnipropetrovsk region.

He is accused of negligence that led to the death of 49 servicemen on June 14, 2014. It was he who gave permission for the departure of a military transport aircraft IL-76, which was shot down by terrorists near the Luhansk airport. Nazarov himself pleads not guilty, Censor.NET reports citing 5 Channel.

During the previous hearing held on Dec. 23 last year, the prosecutor read out the indictment - a claim for damages to the state. The representative of the victims also insists on compensation for non-pecuniary losses.

On June 14, 2014, terrorists shot down a military transport aircraft IL-76 with a missile. This happened when the plane was approaching the Luhansk airport. 40 Ukrainian military of the 25th Airborne Brigade and nine crew members died.
