 Law enforcers and troops apprehended two militants during joint raid in Popasna

The special operation to prevent acts of sabotage in the city and detect militants of illegal armed groups was carried out by the officers of the Security Service of Ukraine in conjunction with the National Guard, National police, border guards and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Censor.NET reports citing the press-service of the SBU.

The report reads: "The detained person joined the terrorist group of Mozgovoi in July 2014. He guarded checkpoints carrying out pass control. During the advance of the Ukrainian troops, the militant got rid of his weapon and escaped to Russia, where he was hiding until last September.

"The officers of the Security Service of Ukraine together with the policemen have also apprehended a militant of the "DPR" terrorist organization in the Donetsk region. The person joined terrorists in 2014. He was guarding premises of the Kramatorsk City Council under the leadership of the militant nicknamed Turkmen.

"He was hiding from the law enforcement officers for a long time after the liberation of the city from invaders by the Ukrainian troops.

"The criminal proceedings into militants' activities have been initiated under Part 2 of the Article 260 (participation in activities of illegal paramilitary or armed groups) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The urgent investigative actions are underway. "
