As reported by Censor.NET citing Yevropeiska Pravda, this was announced by EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn before the meeting of the EU Council in Brussels.
He said, Ukraine still has certain commitments taken by the president and the prime minister, which must be fulfilled, adding the commission expected to obtain a report soon for its further consideration and coming forward with a proposal [on abolishing visas - ed.] to the EU Council in Q1 2016.
According to Hahn, the same applies to Georgia.
As announced in December by EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos, the European Commission in the beginning of 2016 will propose to put Ukraine on the list of countries whose citizens may enter the Schengen area for a short period without a visa.
Introducing a visa-free regime is contingent on the relevant decisions by the EU Council and the European Parliament.
