Head of the media department at the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine Kateryna Denysiuk told Interfax-Ukraine, Censor.NET informs.
"He was released on Jan. 11. He himself filed a petition to court for reviewing his case under the "Savchenko law." On Dec. 30, 2015, the court ruled in his favor and granted his petition. Accordingly, as soon as we received the court's decision, he was released," Denysiuk said on Monday.
As previously reported, in November, the parliament amended the Criminal Code of Ukraine by equating one day in remand prison to two days in detention. The bill was registered by people's deputy Nadiia Savchenko.
