The law presupposes establishment of a channel, which will broadcast outside Ukraine to protect national interests and form a positive image of the country in English and other languages.
As Censor.NET reports citing Channel 112 Ukraine, the document was published in Governmental Courier magazine on Jan. 15. The law comes into force the day after publication.
The law defines the tasks and functions of state international broadcasting in Ukraine, principles of its subjects in order to protect the national interests of Ukraine abroad, as well as to form and support the positive image of Ukraine in the world by prompt and objective information about the events in Ukraine.

Multimedia broadcasting platform of Ukraine has been created as a state enterprise on the basis of the State TV and Radio Company Ukrainian Television and Radio Broadcasting. It is subject to the central body of executive power, which provides forming and implementing of the state policy on information sovereignty of Ukraine.
According to the law, intervention of public authorities and local self-governments, their officials, as well as non-governmental organizations into international broadcasting in order to establish censorship, preliminary control or undue influence on the content is prohibited.
The system of international broadcasting in Ukraine will include Multimedia broadcasting platform of Ukraine and Ukrinform Ukrainian National Information Agency.
