 Militants committed 35 attacks and attempted to storm positions near Semyhiria yesterday, - ATO HQ

The situation in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone escalated again.

Censor.NET informs citing the situation report by the ATO press center as of 6 a.m. Jan. 12.

According to the headquarters, the militants violated the terms of the armistice 35 times all along the demarcation line over the past day. Most attacks were committed at night.

"The invaders again used small arms, grenade launchers, and high-caliber machine guns against Pisky, Opytne, Avdiivka, and Verkhniotoretske near Donetsk. The militants fired at our positions near Marinka with anti-tank grenade launcher. An enemy sniper committed assaults near Krasnohorivka at the direction of occupied Staromykhailivka," the statement reads.

It is noted that the invaders tried to invite the Ukrainian soldiers' retaliation fire hear Novhorodske, Zaitseve, and Maiorsk located north of Horlivka using small arms, grenade launchers and large-caliber machine guns.

"The militants employed high-caliber machine guns just to the east, near Svitlodarsk. Attacks of the enemy snipers were recorded near Luhanske.

"A clash took place at the same direction in the vicinity of Semyhiria. Our soldiers forced the attackers back to their initial positions after a short skirmish with the use of small arms," the ATO press center informed.

It was also reported that the invaders were targeting an 82-mm mortar not far from Troitske village on the border between the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"The situation in the Luhansk region escalated again. The organized criminal groups attacked strong points of the Ukrainian troops near Krymske using grenade launchers and 120-mm mortars, which were banned in the course of the preliminary negotiations on the de-escalation of the conflict," the headquarters added.
