 Terrorists used weapons 21 times yesterday, forcing Ukrainian soldiers to open fire in response, - ATO press center

Illegal armed groups of pro-Russian militants used weapons against the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) troops 21 times over the past day. More than a half of these assaults were committed during hours of darkness.

Censor.NET informs citing the situation report by the ATO press center as of 6 a.m. Jan. 11.

According to the headquarters, the militants again fired at the Ukrainian troops' positions in the vicinity of Opytne and south of Avdiivka near temporarily occupied Donetsk with small arms.

"One of our strong points near Starohnativka at the Mariupol direction has come under fire from the same type of weapons. In addition, the militants employed grenade launchers and high-caliber machine guns against the Ukrainian forces' positions in Shyrokyne not far from Mariupol. The Ukrainian defenders were forced to open fire in response with small arms," the report reads.

It is also noted that the ATO forces' positions near Zaitseve, Maiorsk, and Leninske, which is north of Horlivka, were attacked by the militants with the use of small arms and high-caliber machine guns. In addition to machine guns, the enemy has also employed automatic grenade launchers near Luhanske village.

"The enemy made a few shots with the tank weapons banned by the Minsk agreements in the direction of Troitske located on the border between the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," the headquarters reported, adding that the Russian-terrorist forces had not violated the terms of the cease-fire deal only in the Luhansk region.
