Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO matters Colonel Andrii Lysenko told journalists at a briefing Jan. 8, Censor.NET reports.
"The Luhansk direction: it was completely calm there over the past day.
"The Donetsk direction: the militants continued attacking Ukrainian position along the section of the front between the Svitlodarsk Salient and the Donetsk airport.
"The vicinity of occupied Horlivka was the area of most intense enemy attacks yesterday. The enemy committed three strikes on the Ukrainian positions near the village of Zaitseve north of Horlivka using 82-mm and 120-mm caliber mortars having launched eight mortar projectiles totally. The enemy also carried out several armed provocations there as well as in Maiorsk and on western suburbs of Horlivka using small arms and grenade launchers.
"The enemy committed another daring provocation near the village of Nevelske in Yasynuvata district. The militants opened fire on the Ukrainian positions there from high-caliber machine guns after sunset. Having found the target, the enemy kept providing fire from the weapons of tanks and IFVs prohibited by the Minsk agreements.
"The attacks near the Donetsk airport continued all day long although heavy weapons were not employed.
"The Mariupol direction: the only case of cease-fire violation recorded in this area was hostile mortar strike on the ATO forces deployed near the village of Lebedynske in the Volnovakha district.
"No flights of the enemy UAVs were recorded in the ATO area yesterday but two Russian reconnaissance planes were spotted flying along the administrative border with occupied Crimea," the report reads.
