 Ukrainian soldier wounded near border with Russia Jan. 1 died in hospital, - Luhansk region police

The Ukrainian serviceman was wounded by a sniper when he was patrolling the area near the border with Russia.

Spokesperson of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Luhansk region Tetiana Pohukai wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET informs.

The statement reads that the doctors have reported to the Stanytsia-Luhanska police precinct Jan. 2 about a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine born in 1975 being brought to the central regional hospital in Stanytsia-Luhanska with diagnosis of "gunshot wound to the abdomen" Jan. 1.

The soldier died in the hospital from his injuries later. At the same time the National Police did not disclose the name of the deceased soldier.

The investigation established that the soldier received injury near the village of Herasymivka in the Stanytsia-Luhanska region near the border with Russia when he was patrolling the border area.
