 Pro-Russian terrorists opened fire 42 times on Jan. 1, - ATO press center

On the first day of 2016, criminals from the self-proclaimed 'republics' violated the cease-fire 42 times in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area.

As reported by Censor.NET, this is announced by the ATO press center in a report as of 6 a.m. Jan. 2, 2016.

"Near Mariupol, militants from illegal armed gangs opened aimed fire from small arms against our positions near Sartana, and from large-caliber machine guns near Shyrokyne in the evening.

"To the north of Horlivka, mercenaries were firing at Ukrainian soldiers serving near Zaitseve with 82-mm caliber mortars and small arms. At the same area of the front line the bandits shelled our strong points near Nobhorodske with grenade launchers, and near Artemove with large-caliber machine guns.

"Luhanske, at Svitlodarsk direction, was again under enemy grenade launchers and small arms fire. To the east, invaders used large-caliber machine guns and small arms to fire at the Ukrainian army positions near Troitske," the message reads.

According to the HQ, shelling of the ATO forces' positions continues near temporarily occupied Donetsk: "Russia-controlled gangs are using small arms and grenade launchers to shell Pisky, Opytne, and south of Avdiivka."

"Since midnight, mercenaries used weapons against our soldiers for two times already. 20 cases of fire were recorded after 6 p.m. yesterday," the ATO press center noted.
