 Militants violated cease-fire 24 times Jan. 1, - ATO press center

On Jan. 1. pro-Russian illegal armed gangs continued to openly violate the cease-fire agreement in the conflict area of the Donbas.

"During the day, in order to provoke Ukrainian defenders, militants were using small arms and large-caliber machine guns exclusively," the message reads.

Unaimed fire at Ukrainian strong points was recorded near Pisky and Opytne, the Donetsk airport vicinity, as well as in Troitske area at the Donetsk-Luhansk regional border. At the Horlivka-Svitlodarsk salient, mercenaries were conducting chaotic fire near Novhorodske and Luhanske.

"In total, pro-Russian terrorist hybrid gangs violated the cease-fire mode 24 times today, Jan. 1. The Ukrainian units had no need to open retaliate fire. According to the press center, the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces control the situation," the press center informed.
