Ukraine bans import of cars not meeting Euro 5 emission standard

On Jan. 1, 2016, cars not meeting Euro 5 emission standards that have been implemented in the EU since September 2009 are banned from import into Ukraine.

This was announced by the Association of international road carriers of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"Effective Jan. 1, 2016 import of vehicles under Euro 5 standard is forbidden," the message reads.

Stricter ecological requirements of vehicles that are imported in Ukraine are introduced under the law "On amendments to the law of Ukraine 'On certain issues concerning import and registration of vehicles in Ukraine' for wheeled vehicles" No 5177 dated 2012.
