National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov believes that promotion of competition in the military industry of Ukraine will enhance quality and decrease prices for military equipment.

He said this during his visit to non-governmental Aerotekhnika enterprise, a producer of anti-aircraft weapons, Censor.NET informs citing the NSDC press service.

According to Turchynov, Ukraine's "anti-aircraft defense system is the one that suffered the most" during deliberate destruction of Ukraine's armed forces that had lasted until 2014.

"This is why restoration of the anti-aircraft defense capability is a priority task for the state in 2016, as set by the National Security and Defense Council," the NSDC Secretary stated.

Turchynov noted that the enterprise modernized and produced sophisticated systems under NATO standards and in cooperation with the member countries. "There is not a single Russian-made detail in these systems," he stressed, adding that "it's extremely important for us."

"It is also very important that Aerotekhnika is a non-governmental enterprise. When we are speaking about the revival of the military industry of Ukraine, which is growing fast, we mean not only the state Ukroboronprom concern, but also private companies that compete with it," Turchynov said.

"All of this creates competition, thanks to which our military can choose the best products in terms of price-to-quality ratio, which allows for saving of budget funds and increase in quality of the products," the NSDC Secretary noted.
