 Poroshenko has awarded 300 Ukrainian heroes – ATO participants

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has decorated the military, who shown personal courage and heroism, skills and loyalty to the military oath in combat missions in the Donbas.

According to the report, 300 people, who have proven themselves in combat operations in 2014 - 2015 near the Donetsk airport, near the villages and cities of Pisky, Debaltseve, Marinka, Vodiane, Spartak, Shyrokyne, Stanytsia Luhanska, and Shchastia, have been awarded. Among them there are 282 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (including 22 deceased and 51 wounded), 17 soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine (injured) and one soldier of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (injured).

"There are over 100 servicemen of the airborne troops and special operations detachments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as 30 soldiers of the combined detachment of the Air Force of Ukraine among the awarded. These soldiers were defending the positions near the village of Spartak in the Donetsk region from Dec. 16, 2014 to Jan. 22, 2015 and have destroyed a large number of equipment and manpower of the enemy in continuous fierce battles," the statement reads.
