 Yatseniuk warns lawmakers that they will have to celebrate New Year in parliament

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk has announced that the country will face economic collapse if the state budget-2016 is not adopted.

He said opening a government meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

Yatseniuk stressed that consensus on issues related to the adoption of the state budget for 2016 was reached in the course of prior consultations with the Verkhovna Rada deputies but positive results of voting on the necessary bills were not managed to be achieved again on Wednesday.

"As the government of Ukraine, we will not allow to destroy the financial stability of the country, stop funding the army, National Police. We will not allow non-payment of pensions and salaries as the irresponsibility of certain Ukrainian parliamentary factions and lawmakers will definitely result in this - in the non-payment of pensions, non-payment of salaries, lack of financing of the Ukrainian army, Ukrainian police, schools, hospitals, virtually in the economic disaster in the country. I will not allow this," the prime minister said.

However, he assured that he would seek the adoption of the necessary decisions by Rada before the end of the year.

"If the lawmakers will have to celebrate the New Year in the Verkhovna Rada, then we will celebrate it there, together with the government," Yatseniuk said.
