Sanctions against Russia key aspect of Minsk agreements, - Poroshenko

Sanctions against the Russian Federation are a key aspect of the Minsk agreements on settlement of the situation in the east of Ukraine.

As reported by Censor.NET citing UNIAN, this was announced by President Petro Poroshenko in an interview to a Ukrainian TV channel.

"The sanctions are a key aspect to the Minsk accords," he said.

According to Poroshenko, these accords are a format of the global coalition aimed at supporting Ukraine and a motivation for the aggressor country to fulfill all of the provisions of these accords, from the cease-fire to the withdrawal of occupation forces from Ukrainian territory and Ukraine's regain of control over its border.

"From release of hostages, including Savchenko, Sentsov and others, and to political processes of returning the Ukrainian sovereignty over the occupied territories. If this is not done, then sanctions [should be applied -ed.]," the president added.
