Russia will improve nuclear weapons as security protection – Putin

Having launched a hybrid war against Ukraine, Russia's president Vladimir Putin has said today that he will continue to improve Russia's nuclear arsenal, but only in a bid to deter potential threats to his country.

"The nuclear triad is at the heart of our policy of nuclear security," Putin said in a documentary broadcasted today on Russia 1 TV channel, Censor.NET reports.

"As one of the leading nuclear states, Russia will continue to improve its nuclear armament. The nuclear triad is at the heart of our policy of nuclear security", he assured.

However, Putin said he would not wield the "nuclear big stick."
