 Restrictions on trade with Crimea will enter into force Jan. 18

The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No.1035 of Dec. 16 bans the import of food totally worth of more than 10,000 hryvnia (about $400) with the total weight acceding 50 kg per person into the territory of Crimea by the Ukrainian citizens.

This follows from the text of the resolution of the Cabinet No.1035 of Dec. 16, published in the Uriadovyi Kurier state paper. The document comes into force 30 days after the date of its publication, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

However, it is permitted to import and export socially important food: wheat flour, several types of bread, pasta, buckwheat, rice, beef, pork, lard, poultry, sausages, 2.5% milk, 20% sour cream, cottage cheese, butter, eggs, sugar, sunflower oil, potatoes, salt. The importation of the mentioned goods in specified quantities is allowed no more than once per day.

The decree introduces ban on supply of labor, goods, and services under any customs regulations from temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine to other territory of Ukraine or from other territory of Ukraine to temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine for the period of occupation of Crimea. The new regulations do not include personal belongings of citizens, socially important food, and humanitarian aid.

The document does not apply to the supply of electric power, which is carried out in accordance with the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, as well as the import of international humanitarian aid according to the list approved by the Social Policy Ministry.

Earlier, one of the leaders of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev said that trade and energy blockade of Russian-occupied Crimea, organized by the Crimean Tatars, has yielded certain important results.
