During the annual press conference with Russian and international journalists in Moscow, President Vladimir Putin contradicted his own previous year testimonies, answering a question about the captured in the Donbas Russian GRU officers Cpt. Yerofeyev and Sgt. Aleksandrov.

Censor.NET reports citing National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov.

Putin stated: "We never said there were no people in the Donbas who handled certain issues of the military sector... But this does not mean there are Russian regular troops there."

The NSDC secretary commented on this statement: "I would like to remind you that for two years on, Putin was saying one and the same thing: there are no Russian military in the east of Ukraine. Just remember a last year conversation with him, where the following was pronounced: "This is all nonsense. There are no Russian troops, no special services, no instructors in eastern Ukraine. All people you see there are locals."
