 Andrii Kryshchenko, who defended Ukrainian flag in Horlivka, appointed new Kyiv police chief

Andrii Kryshchenko was appointed head of the National Police in the city of Kyiv today by order of the Interior Minister under the motion of Head of the National Police of Ukraine Khatia Dekanoidze.

Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov wrote in his blog on Censor.NET.

"I'm sure it's the right choice!" he wrote.

According to the minister, he appointed Andrii Kryshchenko the new head of Kharkiv National Police nine months ago. Arsen Avakov also said that he was ready to repeat every single word from his post of April 6: "I have appointed Andrii Kryshchenko the new head of Kharkiv National Police. He is a patriot and a true officer. He defended the flag of Ukraine in Horlivka to the last a year ago. He was, as they thought, beaten to death by the separatists, who went postal. He recovered feet soon. Andrii was heading the district in the hardest days of the release of Sloviansk. Kryschenko is my choice for Kharkiv in these challenging times to assist the new team being formed there."

Avakov also said that the last few months of hard work in extremely difficult area confirmed that it was the right choice.

"Andrii Kryshchenko is an example of true officer and a true patriot of Ukraine. He risked his life to defend the Ukrainian flag from the separatists as the head of the Horlivka police. He received severe injuries. Kryshchenko was decorated with the "Order for Personal Courage" of the 3rd degree for heroism in the defense of national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to his oath.
