"Collective security and accession to NATO membership is our strategic goal," he said.
"We are on the right track since the Verkhovna Rada has adopted decision to abandon the non-aligned status," Shutenko said.
"We should not only focus on tactical purposes, which involve conformity with the requirements of transition to NATO standards and the reform of the defense sector, we must look beyond the horizon, where the horizon is our NATO membership. I believe that we need to talk about changes at this stage, and the changes will be tectonic when the country becomes a member," the representative of the Foreign Ministry said.
"These are the changes in the architecture of the Euro-Atlantic security, collective security, and we should have already been preparing for it and talk about it," Shutenko said.
