The draft law No. 3613, which was supposed to schedule holding of new elections for March 27, 2016, has not won required number of votes after lengthy discussions, Censor.NET reports.
Previously, the lawmakers have also refused to take into account the report of the parliamentary commission on violations during election of Kryvyi Rih mayor.
It should be noted that Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Hroisman has several times unsuccessfully tried to make MP's to revert the bill No. 3613. He later announced the need for further consultations on the issue.
Hroisman expressed hope that the parliament would find an opportunity to make a decision and release tension that has arisen around this issue after further consultations.
He called on all political forces to find a compromise. The speaker closed the evening session of the Verkhovna Rada after that.
It should be mentioned that most Opposition Bloc and Radical Party faction MPs voted against the bill. Besides, several lawmakers from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc (20 people's deputies did not vote, 36 were absent) and the People's Front (10 people's deputies did not vote, 15 were absent) factions did not vote for re-election.
"I hope that we will make this political and legal decision," Hroisman said.
According to Censor.NET correspondent, some MPs expect that the parliament will revert to this bill at tomorrow's plenary session.
