"Ukraine makes this sacrifice not only at the front, but also in a very difficult and principled struggle against terrorism aimed to destroy our state," the president noted at the second session of the National Anti-Corruption Council, Censor.NET reports citing the presidential press office.
The head of state expressed gratitude to Head of the Security Service Vasyl Hrytsak and all officials for the efficient detention of a subversive group that was preparing terrorist attacks in several cities. "I would like to thank all officials who defended peace of Ukrainians and prevented terrorist attacks in Kyiv, Kharkiv and other cities this night. A lot of explosives, grenades and fire arms were concentrated for this purpose. The Security Service prevented the activity of the subversive group with heroic and professional actions," Petro Poroshenko said.
The attendees honored the memory of the fallen Lieutenant Colonel with a moment of silence. "Andrii Kuzmenko sacrificed his life to prevent chaos and anarchy in Ukraine," the president noted.
The head of state asked to take care of the family of the fallen hero and provide assistance in the recovery of the wounded official of the Security Service.
"I am confident that terrorism will be stopped," Petro Poroshenko stated.
