This was announced by SBU press officer Olena Hitlianska and SBU Chief of Staff Oleksandr Tkachuk at a briefing on Thursday, Censor.NET reports.
They made it clear that in a special operation conducted simultaneously yesterday late evening in Kyiv and Kharkiv, seven subversives were captured, one was eliminated. Three of them are the citizens of the Russian Federation, four - Ukrainians.
"We've destroyed the leader of the group," Tkachuk said.
He did not rule out that the group had been connected with the special services of the Russian Federation.
According to him, the eliminated saboteur repeatedly crossed the Russian border and used three fake passports. Also, according to the SBU, the destroyed subversive was a citizen of Ukraine.
Moreover, Tkachuk said the SBU had found a lot of explosives at the apartment where the operation was conducted. According to him, there was a risk of detonation, which could have led to a tragedy.
