Late evening Dec. 9, a special operation by the Security Service ceased activities of a sabotage and reconnaissance group operating in a number of Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv.

SBU press officer Olena Hitlianska wrote in Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

According to her, two citizens of the Russian Federation and three citizens of Ukraine have been captured. One of the saboteurs resisted with automatic weapons, wounded two Alfa special forces unit officers, and was neutralized.

"The condition of one of the wounded officers is critical, doctors are doing their best at the moment. While under fire, Alfa fighters first evacuated the hosts of the apartment where the saboteur holed up and their seven-year-old child, and only then eliminated the armed criminal," she wrote.

She also noted the apartment was under examination while at that moment the SBU had already seized at one of the places in Kyiv eight ready-to-use handmade bombs, four kilograms of TNT, automatic weapons, more than 40 grenades, 2,000 rounds of ammunition, as well as weapon and bomb components.

Later, Hitlianska reported that one of the wounded security officers died.
