Bill on termination of energy supply to Crimea registered in Rada, - MP Chubarov

A draft law on the termination of energy supply to the occupied territories of Ukraine has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada.

Poroshenko Bloc MP, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov said in his speech in the parliament, Censor.NET reports citing Poroshenko Bloc press service.

According to the deputy, the supply of electricity to the occupied peninsula will be temporarily restored only for two weeks in order to stabilize energy supply to the Kherson region.

"Taking into account other issues, including humanitarian ones, activists have decided to allow supply via only one branch which is currently powering Crimea with 200 mW instead of 850 mW it had provided before Nov. 22. But it's only for two weeks, so that the government and local authorities could stabilize energy supply to the Kherson region," Chubarov said.

In addition, he said that a bill had been registered in the parliament, providing for the prohibition of energy supply to the occupied territories.

"Our next step, if the bill is not passed until the end of the coming month - no one will be allowed to strike deals until Crimea is specified there as part of Ukraine," Chubarov said.
