 Poroshenko: U.S. supports Ukraine's stance against Nord Stream 2

The United States has supported the position of Kyiv on the inadmissibility of implementation of Nord Stream 2 project.

This was announced by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko after talks with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden in Kyiv on Monday, Censor.NET informs citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"It was clearly stated and I want to thank vice president for his absolutely clear stand and support regarding the inadmissibility of the Nord Stream 2 project," Poroshenko said.

Petro Poroshenko informed that the practical and political support of the United States to strengthen the energy security of Ukraine was discussed at the meeting. He noted that the Ukrainian side was constantly raising the issue of Nord Stream 2 at the negotiations with the EU.

"We reiterate this position of ours during the negotiations with the EU, with certain EU member states, and we are confident that developing its energy cooperation within the previous agreements, Energy Community Treaty, Europe is becoming more competitive and more independent of political pressure from anyone, including the Russian Federation," the president said.
