NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov said after decorating military and volunteers with medals and commendations, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the National Security and Defense Council.
"Taking into account the threats that the country is actually facing now, the National Security and Defense Council considers that it is impossible to reduce our expenses on defense and security sector," Turchynov said.
According to him, that was the reason why the state budget's total expenditure for the security and defense sector should be five percent of GDP, as it was envisaged by the National Security and Defense Strategy as well as military doctrine. "This is definitely a substantial resource - about 113 billion hryvnia (over $4.5 billion - Ed.)," he explained.
"We will not reduce our defense spending until the territory of Ukraine both in the east and in the south is completely freed," the NSDC secretary summed up.
