One soldier was killed in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) on Dec. 5, Presidential Administration speaker on ATO matters Oleksandr Motuzianyk said.

"One soldier was killed in combat activities over the past 24 hours. It happened in Zaitseve village," he said at a briefing on Sunday, Censor.NET reports.

The situation in the Donetsk sector remains the most complicated.

"The militants have made a series of provocations at the village of Luhanske near Svitlodarsk. Some gunmen opened fire in the daytime. The occupants continued to 'bother' the Ukrainian military on the outskirts of Horlivka. In particular, Zaitseve held a 10-minute mortaring with 82-mm mortar shells, while enemy snipers were spotted in Novhorodske. A few other minor provocations were reported in the sector," he said.
