"Ukraine receives gas from Russia. It is regulated by the Protocol, which was signed in Oct., 2015 for a six-month period. We operate in the framework of the contracts (that regulate both supply and transit of gas) that were signed before and remain relevant until the end of 2019. I believe that within the framework of these contracts, we need to continue our cooperation, because we are still a reliable supplier of gas to European consumers. This reliability is confirmed by many years of successful cooperation," the minister said.
Answering the question, whether Russia should react to the energy blockade of the Crimea and take its revenge by stopping supply of gas to Ukraine, Novak answered in the negative. "We can not question our reliability as the main gas supplier of Europe," he added.
