Cabinet raised salaries for police officers two- and threefold. Rookies to get more than UAH 6,000, - Minister Avakov

On Nov. 11, 2015, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted the resolution No. 988 on the salaries of National Police officers, providing for an average two- to threefold increase in salaries, with special rank officers to be eligible for 12 to 18 times as big salary as it was initially.

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov wrote in his blog on Censor.NET.

According to him, the salary of a National Police officer will make UAH 1,700 (approx. $74), while the salary of a militia officer was UAH 500 (approx. $22). A police sergeant bonus will amount to UAH 800 (approx. $35), while a militia sergeant received UAH 45 (approx. $2).

Avakov also stresses that the passed act provides for the introduction of bonuses for the special conditions of service as well as the length of service.

"National Police chief will receive UAH 98,000 (approx. $4,244) (including all bonuses), deputies - an average of UAH 70,000 (approx. $3,030), heads of structural divisions and regional offices - an average of UAH 30,000 (approx. $1,300). A lowest-ranking police officer with zero working experience will get UAH 6,163 (approx. $267) from the start. Every year, the salary will be increased. And now the most important thing: only those officers who passed re-evaluation will be entitled for the new salaries!" Avakov stressed.
