The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine refuted information that the Russian T-90 tank and VSS Vintorez sniper rifle were depicted on the Defender of the Fatherland badge.

Censor.NET reports citing the statement by the press service of the Defense Ministry.

"The Ministry of Defense authorities give an outright denial to information spread by the media regarding symbols of the Russian Federation being allegedly depicted on the Defender of the Fatherland commemorative badge," the statement reads.

The agency noted that the badge was manufactured on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The state flag of Ukraine, the symbol of the agency, an embroidered towel, a T-72 tank, which is in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and a soldier in uniform carrying a weapon of the Armed Forces were depicted on it.

"The commemorative badge represents T-72 tank with differential peculiarities: rollers, caterpillar, body, as well as 125-mm tank gun. T-72 tank is known to be in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. An Armed Forces of Ukraine commando is depicted standing near the tank. He is dressed in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The soldier is armed with weapon which is in service with special operations forces and intelligence detachments of the Ukrainian defense agency," the ministry stressed.

The press service insisted that the untrue information was spread in order to "discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine and its generalship as well as demoralize personnel."
