"The roofs of private houses and social facilities were damaged in 15 districts of the four regions (five districts in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, four - in the Lviv region, three - in the Chernivtsi region, and three - in the Khmelnytsky region) due to inclement weather (rain, gale force wind) Dec. 1 in the afternoon. The trees were also recorded broken by weather. Four people were injured in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The State Emergency Service and utility service providers' personnel are involved in rescue and recovery operations," the statement reads.
It is noted that the blackout was caused in 280 cities and villages in 16 regions of Ukraine: 87 cities and villages in the Poltava region, 48 - in the Odesa region, 39 - in the Dnipropetrovsk region, 13 - in the Lviv region, 13 - in the Vinnitsa region, 13 - in the Cherkasy region, 12 - in the Kherson region, 10 - in the Ternopil region, 10 - in the Zhytomyr region, eight - in the Kirovohrad region, seven - in the Chernivtsi region, seven - in the Khmelnytskyi region, seven - in the Sumy region, two in the Luhansk region, three - in the Kyiv region, and one - in the Kharkiv region. The power companies' repair teams are involved in restoration of energy supply to the cities and villages.
The situation is under the control of local State Emergency Service Directorates.
