 MP Martynenko announces resignation amidst defamation campaign against him

People's Front faction MP Mykola Martynenko has announced his abdication.

Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

The statement was made against the backdrop of the corruption controversy an information campaign aimed to cast a slur on MP's reputation.

"I have made the decision to resign as the Verkhovna Rada deputy and voluntarily waive parliamentary immunity," he said.

Mykola Martynenko said he would ask the parliament to consider this issue during the next plenary week as well as personally take efforts to secure the required quantity of votes. He also mentioned his own investigation and expressed confidence that he would find the masterminds of the information campaign launched against him and announce their names.
