U.S. President Barack Obama signed the country's defense bill after Congress passed it by an overwhelming margin.

This is reported by Censor.NET citing Sky News.

The bill provides for allocating $300 mln in aid to Ukraine, including $50 mln on lethal aid to Ukrainian forces fighting pro-Russian rebels in the east of the country.

The signing has been welcomed by Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko, who reacted with a Twitter post: "Thank you President Obama for powerful military aid to Ukraine! This is an example of partner solidarity and support."

Ukraine's Ambassador to U.S. Valerii Chalyi also commented on it: "This is a clear signal stressing the unified position of the Administration and the U.S. Congress in the matter of Ukraine's support in its struggle with the continuous Russian military aggression," he wrote.
